How to use ISREF Function in Excel

Quick Intro

Use Excel ISREF Function to check whether a reference is valid or not. You can check for a reference and it will return TRUE if that reference is valid, else FALSE.



  • value A value for which you want to check for a valid reference.

More Information on Excel ISREF Function

  • If a valid reference address enclosed in a double quotation marks ISREF Function will not able to test that reference & return FALSE even that reference is a valid reference.


In the below example, fruit is a valid named range but when you have used double quotation marks, ISREF Function is unable to test that  reference.
