Sometimes, the user wants the changes made in the existing file to be saved as a separate new file with the new or existing file name and format.

For this, the user needs to save the file using the “Save as” option that gives the option to save the file as a new separate file with the new or existing name and format, and location to choose to save that file.

Keyboard Shortcut to Save as the Excel Workbook

There are multiple ways to use the “Save as” option, but there are two quick shortcuts to use the “Save as” option as below:

Fn + F12

Alt → F → A

Steps to Save As File Using Keyboard Shortcut

  • First, press “Fn + F12“ or “Alt → F → A” shortcut keys to get the “Save As” dialog box opened.
  • After that, you can rename the file, change the file format and choose the location to save this as a new separate file.
  • Once done, click the “Save” button and you will get your new separate file generated.
