While working in Excel, many times users want to delete the unnecessary or unwanted row(s) to make the data clear and clean and for this Excel has the options to delete the row(s) anytime.

Deleting the row is as easy as adding the row in Excel and the row can be deleted manually or using keyboard shortcuts.

Keyboard Shortcut to Delete Row in the Excel

The keyboard shortcut to delete row(s) is as below and can be used in two ways.

Ctrl + Minus Sign (-)

Steps to Delete Row(s) Using Keyboard Shortcut

  1. First, press the “Shift + Spacebar” shortcut keys to select the entire row, and then simply press the “Ctrl + Minus Sign (-) to delete that selected row.
  2. Or, click on any cell of the row that you want to delete and press the shortcut keys “Ctrl + Minus Sign (-)”.
  3. In case you have multiple non-sequential rows to delete, press and hold the “Ctrl” key and click on any cell on each row one by one that you want to delete and then press shortcut keys “Ctrl + Minus Sign (-)”.

  4. After that, you will get the “Delete” dialog box opened and with the help of the Down Arrow key, select the “Entire row” radio button.
  5. Now, press the “Enter” key and you will get those rows deleted.
