Use Excel AREAS Function to check numbers of areas in a reference. In simple words, It will return that how many areas you have included in a reference.

Definition For Excel AREAS Function

In above example, I have referred to 3 cells and the function has returned 3 in the result.



reference A Reference to a cell or a range of cells.

More information on Excel AREAS Function

  • If you want to refer to more than a one cell reference, you have to enclose all that references in more than one set of parentheses and use commas to separate each reference from other.
  • Reference can be a cell, a range of cells or a named range.
