## Quick Intro

It happens sometimes that we have some numbers in our worksheet. And, you are not sure that those numbers are actually numbers or text.

In that case, you can use Excel ISNUMBER Function to test whether those values are numbers or not. It will return TRUE if a value is a number else it will return FALSE. You can use this function to check for the numeric value where you are not sure about the format.

## Syntax

ISNUMBER(value)

• value  A numeric value which you want to check.

• Numbers which are enclosed in double quotation marks will be treated as text.

## Example

In the below example, I have used ISNUMBER Function with IF Function to deliver an alert message if a user enters a non-number value in cell F1.
