Extract day number from a valid excel data with Day function.
In simple words, it will return day from a date ignoring month and year. It will give you the number of the day ranging from 1 to 31 from a date you have mentioned.
- serial_number A valid serial number of date from which you want to extract day number.
More Information on Excel DAY Function
- Excel stores date in serial number and day function will only get day number from a date with a valid serial number.
- It will only return day number from a date with year ranging from 1900 to 10000.
- You can also insert a date directly into the function by using quotation marks.
In the below example, I have used day function to get day number from a date. You can use this function when you have dates in your data and you only need day number.
And, in the below example, I have used this function to create a dynamic formula which returns current day number and it will update every time you open your worksheet or when you recalculate your worksheet.
