Excel COUNTBLANK Function

Returns the count of the number of empty cells.

Syntax

= COUNTBLANK(range)

Arguments

  • range: A range of cells from which you want to count blank cells.

Notes

  • If there is a zero in a cell, it will be considered as a non-blank cell, hence ignored.
  • If a cell has a formula resulting in an empty (=” “), that will also consider as a non-blank cell.
  • Cells contain numbers, text, errors, and symbols will be ignored.
